The National Historical Commission of the Philippines unveiled and returned the historical marker "Church of San Francisco Naga City" to the Church of San Francisco in Naga City on 20 February 2025.
NHCP Executive Director Carminda R. Arevalo led the unveiling and return of the marker to the San Francisco de Asisi Parish, Naga City represented by the Vicar General and Parish Priest Fr. Wilfred Almoneda. Also present during the ceremonies were Dr. Day Lea Patria M. Lauraya, President of the University of Nueva Caceres, Mr. Paolo A. Suzara, Curator of the University of Nueva Caceres Museum, Mr. Benjamin Paculian, Jr., Chairman of the Parish Pastoral Council of the San Francisco de Asisi Parish, and Naga City Councilor Joe Perez representing Mayor Nelson S. Legacion.
The historical marker was first unveiled and turned over by the then-Philippines Historical Committee to the San Francisco de Asisi Parish in 1950. However, it was later found in the care of the University of Nueva Caceres Museum's care. Through the efforts of the University and with the support of the Parish and the City Government of Naga, the marker is once again in the care of the church, a testament to its historical value to the community and to our country.
