Baduya nga Tahong

Jiabong is the center of tahong farming in Samar.

One of the many ways of enjoying freshly caught mussels is to make them into a baduya, known as local fritters or fried cakes. Chop them into small pieces and mix it in a batter of flour, water, salt, pepper, sebolleno (spring onions), and eggs.

These precious morsels of the Panaghoyan River are often enjoyed as sumsuman (appetizer) or as a side dish.

Visit early in the morning, take a boat ride, and observe the way of life of paragtahong (magtatahong). Have fun!
